The first episode of Kawach 2 introduces viewers to an ancient story. In the interior village of Deolali in Maharashtra, there exists a Shiv temple. It is believed by many that on every Mahashivratri night. At 4 am, Shiv and Parvati may be seen dancing by the most ardent bhakts and if an unmarried young girl happens to see them, then she has the privilege of getting a glimpse of her future husband that night. However, the way to this temple is through a graveyard and while Shiv-Parvati are engrossed in dancing at 4 am, it is believed taht the evil spirits are at large outside. They are the strongest then as the Gods are distracted. If a girl ventures at this our then, it is very hard for her to not be slayed by a rogue evil spirit.
The story then goes on to show a patricular Marathi household, where a young unmarried girl is frustrated as no suitors have been selecting her for marriage. Trying to glimpse Shiv-Parvati and finding out who will marry her seems like the only way to her. But her mother is worried and stops her. The girl runs away from the house to reach the temple anyhow. But as fate would have it, she comes face to face with evil in the graveyard and is taken away. She is never to be found again.
The story then goes 22 years ahead in time when the missing girl's brother is seen mourning for his sister with an arti in his hands. His wife is sympathetic but helpless. They left the big haveli when his sister vanished and settled in Mumbai with their kids to be away from evil. The couple has three kids - 2 girls Sandhya, Suman and 1 boy Mowgli. Suman is an air hostess and Mowgli is a school going kid. The shows protagonist, Sandhya, works at a private firm owned by Jindals and her Boss, Angad Jindal is shown to be in love with her. He is even shown daftly proposing marriage to her as he loves her honesty but she rejects him.
Angad belongs to a very well to do family and a huge one at that. With lots of aunts, uncles, sisters, brothers and friends, who all adore him and care for him, they all have suggestions for him in order to impress Sandhya. But he declares that he will wait till Sandhya accepts him the way he is.
The story again goes back to Sandhya's house in Mumbai where her grandmother has summoned the entire family back to Deolali as she is sick. Sandhya's father and mother along with Sandhya's friends - Kartik, Akhil, Ankit and Ranjana, head in two separate cars. despite being warned by Sandhya's mother to pray at a particular temple before entering the village, the friends along with Sandhya ignore and go ahead. Their car stops without warning in front of the same graveyard and Sandhya with Ranjana wander inside. They are about to reach the temple when they feel an evil presence and run back to the car.
Later after reaching the haveli when Sandhya's kaki hears her and Ranjana planning to visit the temple, she warns them against it. However, Ranjana doesn't pay heed and steps out. Despite Sandhya too stopping her, she heads to the graveyard. Out of fear that her friend will disappear, Sandhya goes looking for her. She manages to escape the evil forces somehow and reaches the temple. As her hand touches the steps of the temple, all the evil powers vanish. She enters and is lucky to catch the silhouette of Shiv-Parvati dancing. She reads a mantra that magically appears in the bright divine light inside the temple. She is surrounded by it and as she stumbles, she is held by a stranger - her future husband. But the twist lies here. It is not her boss Angad. It is some other man.
When she comes out to find Ranjana again, she comes face to face with a chudail. As she tries to escape her, sh emeets her father and kaka who have come looking for the girls after having realised that they are missing from the house. While they and their relatives look around for Ranjana, they find her hanging upside down by a tree. She is dead.
The next episode will see Sandhya and Angad attending a colleague's wedding and she will again stumble and fall as Angad will catch her. Will she say yes for marriage with Angad? What will havppen to the stranger whom Sandhya saw at the Shiv temple?
