Ranveer Singh turned a year older today and celebrating his special day the actor has treated fans with his first look from his upcoming film 83. Ranveer has stepped into the shoes of legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev and his look from the film bears a striking resemblance to the famed cricketer who was fondly called, the Haryana Hurricane. '83 is based on India s historic win at the World Cup in 1983. While Ranveer plays Kapil Dev on the silver screen and his ladylove Deepika Padukone will portray his reel life wife, Romi Bhatia. The actress recently signed up for '83 and expressed that she was more than delighted to be a part of it. '83 also stars Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Jiiva, Ammy Virk, Harrdy Sandhu, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Sahil Khattar and Chirag Patil in lead roles.
Interestingly, the current Indian cricket team qualified for the semi-finals at the ongoing cricket World Cup, hosted n England. And if India wins this World Cup too, then the makers of 83 are planning to make a film on the latest win too. Producer Madhu Mantena said in a statement, "We are making the film (83) to mark the iconic 1983 victory. After 83, if India wins the World Cup this year in 2019, we would like to make a film on the win." A source close to the production had informed IANS, The talks for the movie have already begun. Madhu is super excited to get the movie going. He has started further talks on this new project as well."
'83 is scheduled to hit the screens on April 10, 2020. Apart from this sports drama, Ranveer has period saga Takht and quirky drama Jayeshbhai Jordaar coming up next.
