Aamir Khan's daughter Ira is not going to take the usual route to enter the world of cinema. The 22-year-old has usually made headlines for pictures with her boyfriend Mishaal Kirpalani but this time she is in the news for another reason. Unlike other star kids, Ira Khan will not make her acting debut as she has donned the director's hat for a play. Yes, you read that right. Ira Khan makes her directorial debut with a play named Euripides' Medea, a Greek tragedy. The young girl has already started working on her project, the premiere of which will take place in December, this year. It will be showcased in multiple locations across India.
Opening up about her choice to start her career as a director, Ira told Hindustan Times, "I've always felt more comfortable and enthusiastic about working off-stage or behind the camera rather than [being] in front of it. I've never felt the inclination to act except if it were in an action film, so I get to learn all the cool stunts. Then again.. I can just learn how to do the stunts without a film to work on."
Ira further expressed her love for theatre and said, "I didn't make a conscious decision to begin my career with theatre. It just sort of happened. I've always loved the theatre. Reading plays in literature class, working on school performances and then actually studying theatre in college."
Ira Khan also revealed that she never considered acting as a career option. Meanwhile, a source close to the Ira added that her father Aamir Khan has been supportive of her choices from day one. "When Ira discussed the shortlisted plays which she wanted to direct, Aamir listened to her carefully and he liked it. Aamir is always open to letting his children do what they want to do," a source informed the leading daily.
Here's sending best wishes to Ira for her directorial debut.
