THIS Manikarnika actor will play Alia Bhatt's father in Sadak 2

We were the first ones to inform you about Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi actor Jisshu Sengupta joining the star cast of Mahesh Bhatt's Sadak 2. And now details about his character are out as well. The actor will be seen playing Alia Bhatt's on-screen father in the remake of Sadak. Confirming this news and praising Alia, in a Mumbai Mirror interview, Jisshu said, "Alia's passion for her craft is commendable. Her heart is in her work and she is amongst the finest actors we have in Indian cinema today." Pooja Bhatt had introduced Jisshu's entry into Sadak 2 by tweeting, "My father's special message to @Jisshusengupta which he imprinted in his trademark 'capital' scrawl, on the script of #Sadak2 - 'In the heart of darkness there is light'. Indeed there is." In her tweet, Pooja had shared her father's special message for Jisshu and it was - In the heart of darkness, there is light. Love you, Mahesh Bhatt."

As for Jisshu Sengupta, he is currently shooting for the film in Ooty with his on-screen daughter Alia Bhatt. The actor, who has done a lot of Bengali films, was last seen in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi. Sengupta played Kangana Ranaut's husband Gangadhar Rao in the film. In the same interview, he described his co-star as a 'wonderful actress and a great director.'

Coming back to his next- Sadak 2, it is the official remake of Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt starrer Sadak (1991). The original film revolved around a young man, who falls in love with a sex worker, and has to overcome the social stigma as well as face the brothel owner and some criminal elements.

Sadak 2 stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Akshay Anand, Jisshu Sengupta and Priyanka Bose in key roles. Revealing what Sadak 2 is all about, Mahesh Bhatt had earlier told MM, "Sadak 2 is about love, loss and redemption. To simplify a heartfelt narrative like this is to falsify it. You would be trivialising the essence of the film by suggesting that Sadak 2 is just this."

The remake of 1991 cult film releases on July 10, 2020.
