Shah Rukh Khan calls iconic Kuch Kuch Hota Hai dialogues as best way to stay away from a committed relationship

Yesterday, being Shah Rukh Khan's birthday, the superstar took a few hours out of his busy schedule to celebrate it with his fans and the media as has become customary for him every birthday. And why not, given how people from the four corners of the globe descend onto Mumbai to pour their love and admiration on the world's biggest movie star, with SRK making sure to give them back by spending as much time he can with them, answering their questions and interacting with his legion of fans to the best of his abilities.

During this interaction, a few evergreen BGM scores of the Baadshah of Bollywood were played, and he was asked to regale us with some trivia from the films they're a part of while also narrating what those movies mean to him. Of all the trivia and statements made by King Khan during this segment, the one that caught everyone's attention was his take on an iconic dialogue from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Now the film is a classic and this particular dialogue has become a part of pop-culture folklore, but what Shah Rukh said has given us a whole new perspective on that evergreen line.

We're talking about the "Hum ek baar jeete hain, ek baar marte hain, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hain, aur pyaar pyaar bhi ek hi baar hota hain", and here's Shah Rukh Khan's perspective on it:

"The funny thing about the 'Ek baar jeete hain, ek baar marte hain' dialogue is that it's the best way to get out of making a commitment. Basically, if anyone comes up to you and says, 'I love you and wish to marry you,', and you reply with this particular line, you're really going to confuse that person. Then you follow it up by saying, 'Tum nahi samjhoge, kuch kuch hota hai,' and that person is going to get even more confused. She/he will be wondering if you're actually in love with her/him or not, whether you truly want to marry her/him. It's a very convenient way to remain interested in someone, but not make a commitment at the same time.

"Then you follow that with the 'Tum nahi samjohge kuch kuch hota hai' line, and it'll confuse them even more. They'll be like is she/he really in love with me, and you can still be close to them without being in a committed relationship. It's a very convenient dialogue, and I'm going to tell Karan (Johar) the same thing when I meet him later tonight at the party (SRK's birthday party)."

Well, whenever those scenes from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai play again, we're never going to see them in the same way. No matter what, we'll always love you and Rahul to the moon and back, Shah Rukh Khan. One again, a very, very happy birthday from the entire team of BolylwoodLife.
