EXCLUSIVE! After a flop season, commoners chucked out of the format for Bigg Boss 13?

Yes, it is happening! Despite low TV ratings last year with season 12, the next season of Bigg Boss is scheduled to hit the TV screens. While the chances of the return of the show were bleak, it will return with the 13th season on the same network that has been airing the show since season 2. But the next season might have certain changes in it. A source close to the development has revealed to BollywoodLife that the makers have apparently decided to do away with the concept of commoners from the 13th season onwards. Non-celebrities were given a chance to enter the TV reality show in a few seasons (season 1, 2, 6 featured commoners) earlier, however, from season 10 it became a norm. In fact, when the format was tweaked as Celebrities vs. Commoners in the 10th season, it garnered major limelight, leading to a commoner winning the title for the series.

However, after three consecutive seasons with a mix of celebrities and commoners, the makers have taken this call. "This decision has been taken after the debacle from last year, where the choices of the commoner participants were questioned blatantly," the source adds. If truth be told, last year most of the commoners were not really commoners but hailed from the world of glamour.

But the upcoming season will surely be different if commoners are going to be eliminated. And maybe that is the intention of the makers who have started approaching celebrities for season 13. Our sources reveal that the makers have already approached celebrities like Vivek Dahiya, Jay Bhanushali, and Mahhi Vij. But shockingly, all three of them have denied participating in the show. "Jay and Mahhi denied since they are expecting their first child," the source added. The makers are also eyeing several Tik Tok celebrities.

However, this is just the beginning. The casting for the show has not begun full-fledged since there are three months before the show goes on air. Meanwhile, we tried hard to find out if Salman Khan, who has been hosting the show since season 4, will return as the host for the next season but couldn t get a confirmation. Although chances of him returning are quite high.

Coming back to the commoners, some of those who rose to fame post the show were Manveer Gurjar, Arshi Khan, Puneet Sharma, Bandgi Kalra, Deepak Thakur and such. Well, now that commoners are going to be out, we will get to see more of our favourite celebrities on the show. What are your thoughts on this new set up? Tweet to us @bollywood_life.
