2019, so far, has been fantastic in the South film industry with some spectacular films hitting the screens. If Super Deluxe in Tamil gave audience a good viewing experience, Kavaludaari in Kannada grabbed all the attention and got some rave reviews from critics and audience. Telugu audience too had quite a few films to binge on with some blockbuster hits grabbing eyeballs in the first half of 2019. As we enter the second half of the year, we look back at the best films made in South. So here's a poll to find out which one impressed you the most. Check out the nominations first...
Maharshi (Telugu):
This Mahesh Babu-starrer opened to a grand collection and there was no stopping it. The film went on to clock some huge numbers at the box office besides receiving great reviews from audience. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, Maharshi had Mahesh Babu playing a successful and ruthless CEO who returns to his roots to do his bit for the farming sector. Pooja Hegde played the leading lady in Maharshi while Allari Naresh played a crucial role in the film.
Game Over (Tamil):
Taapsee Pannu made a strong comeback with Tamil thriller which was directed by Aswin Saravanan. The film was also released Telugu and Hindi and received equal response in all the languages. Game Over opened doors to a new genre in South cinema this year and is being hailed as one of the best films of 2019. Taapsee sure knows how to pick her films!
Kavaludaari (Kannada):
Directed by Hemanth Rao, this investigative noir film featured Rishi and Anant Nag in important roles. The film turned out to be a runaway hit after impressing the audience with its twisting narrative. Kavaludaari was produced by Kannada star actor Puneeth Rajkumar and stood at the top in the list of hit films this year in Sandalwood.
Kumbalangi Nights (Malayalam):
This slice-of-life film is one of the most heartwarming films made in Malayalam this year. Directed by Madhu C Naryanan, the film is about four friends who live in a small house in Kumbalangi. Shane Nigam, Soubin Shahir, Mathew Thomas and Fahadh Faasil form the cast of the film and audience couldn t have asked for a better combination. What more? Kumbalangi Nights is produced by Fahadh himself besides featuring in it.
