Tamil Film Producers Council comes down heavily on film critics in it's latest move

After the recent elections, the Tamil Film Producers Council seems to be taking strong steps and the latest one seems to have ruffled few feathers. In a statement released by TFPC, it was announced that producers will no longer allow paid reviewers and critics who provide biased reviews about films. The statement also said that these critics will be restricted from attending any film related events henceforth. This move by TFPC seems to be with an intention to avoid any biased reviews and create arguments within the industry. However, a section of media is viewing it as an uncalled for move by TFPC and is being criticised heavily.

"The new rules will have little bearing on star vehicles, as those films will get attention without extra promotion. In the case of smallers films though, we have to follow careful strategies to draw the attention of the media. Restricting us from using these will dramatically affect their result. Also, the money spent on such promotional events is quite insignificant when you compare it to the loss incurred due to piracy. I really wish they concentrated on bigger problems first," a PRO was quoted as saying by Cinema Xpress.

Interestingly, this step by TFPC comes at a time when there's a lot of statements being made about Sandeep Reddy Vanga's statement about film critics and reviewers' opinion about his film Kabir Singh. Sandeep is facing a lot of backlash from within the industry and media for his statement about the way his film was viewed by critics.

Speaking about the TFPC, the film body went through elections recently and the results are yet to be announced. Actor-producer Vishal is currently the President of the council and is on the verge of losing his post. More clarity on the position will be available once the results of the counting are announced.
