AWE director Prashanth Varma has collaborated with actor Rajasekhar for his next titled Kalki which is touted to be an investigative thriller. The film has released today and is receiving mixed response from audience and critics. A certain section of audience opines that the film is a boredom affair while critics have a different say about Kalki. The technical aspects about the film like the background score and visuals are receiving unanimous appreciation while the pace at which the story unfolds is said to be very slow, suggest some. Kalki is Prashanth Varma's second film and audience had high expectations on the film after the trailer was released. Rajasekhar's dynamic cop look in the trailer set the tone for the film which now seems to have gone a little off-track, as per audience. Read few tweets about Kalki here:
#kalki is superb thriller. First half is bit dull but second half is show stealer..@ActorRajasekhar . One more hit for Rajashekhar.

#Kalki trailer is expectation but the movie turned out to be a reality. 1st half went bad and second half was ok and last 15 minutes is good. Screenplay is messed up. Below average film.

SHOCKING to see @PrasanthVarma who made his debut with the Promising #Awe making a terrible film like #Kalki which went wrong right from the beginning itself. An utter disappointment ??? @ActorRajasekhar garu & the BGM are only saving points in this otherwise a terrible film https://t.co/puW8KuqDZO

Besides Rajasekhar, Kalki also stars Adaah Sharma and Nandita Swetha in female lead roles. Rahul Ramakrishna is seen playing a pivotal role while Nassar, Ashtosh Rana, Siddu Jonnalagadda, Shatru and Charandeep play key roles in the plot. Going by the audience's reaction, the story of Kalki revolves around the murder of one named Sekhar and Rajasekhar, the cop, takes up the investigation of the case. What unfolds next laced with Rajasekhar s personal life forms the crux of the plot in Kalki.
Prashanth Varma's directorial debut AWE left Telugu audience stunned because of its screenplay and audience has similar expectations with his second film. However, the response from audience seems to have left them disappointed with the film. Interestingly, Prashanth Varma had tweeted on the eve of the release of the film stating whatever was the result of the film, he would be thankful to the cast and crew of Kalki. Check out his tweet here:
No matter what the result is tomorrow I want to thank each n everyone of my cast n crew for working sleepless nights to deliver a solid product #Kalki
