BL Predicts: Akshay Kumar and John Abraham to get their biggest openers with Mission Mangal and Batla House

Our Desi Boys, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham are once again locking horns with their upcoming biggies Mission Mangal and Batla House, which are releasing on Independence Day (August 15). Well, this is the second consecutive Independence Day clash between the duo as they had a box office battle last year with Gold and Satyameva Jayate. Both the films opened to a huge response and emerged to be the biggest solo openers of the respective actors. And with their upcoming releases, we are expecting the box office history to repeat. So, here's our prediction of Mission Mangal and Batla House.

Talking about Mission Mangal, both the trailers of the film have got a great response from the audience and we are sure that it will be a perfect Independence Day treat for the audience. Looking at the buzz around the space drama venture, we are hoping the film to collect minimum between Rs 23 to Rs 25 crore on its first day at the ticket windows. And if we see positive reviews pouring in for the film, we might get to see an even bigger collection at the box office. Directed by Jagan Shakti, the film also stars Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari, Nithya Menen and Sharman Joshi in key roles. It is based on the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), or the Mangalyaan project launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in November 2013, to put a space probe in planet Mars' orbit.

Coming to Batla House, it's a film, where an intense performer like John Abraham fits the bill perfectly. We are expecting the single screen audiences to cater in huge number for this film as it has a mass appeal like Satyameva Jayate. As per our predictions, it should earn between Rs 18 to Rs 20 crore, which is definitely a huge number for a film, which has competition from Akshay Kumar. Talking about the film, it narrates the story of one of the most-talked-about police operations in recent times, i.e, the encounter at L-Batla House. Batla House is shot across Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mumbai and Nepal and is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham. The film marks the second collaboration between John and Nikkhil Advani after Salaam-E-Ishq.
