CONFIRMED! Sidharth Malhotra- Riteish Deshmukh starrer Marjaavaan to release on November 22

It's official! Sidharth Malhotra and Tara Sutaria's Marjaavaan will not lock horns with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's War on October 2. The makers of Marjaavaan chose to go with an independent release in the month of November. And now the action-thriller will hit the silver screens on November 22. Revealing that extensive VFX was one of the core reasons for it, co-producer Nikkhil Advani told Mumbai Mirror, "It is important that we give Marjaavaan a suitable release. We're proud of Milap's inimitable filmmaking style and unique language that we expect will exceed audience expectations." On the other hand, co-producer Bhushan Kumar added, "The film needs this kind of VFX especially with Riteish as a dwarf."

For those unaware, Riteish Deshmukh plays a vertically challenged antagonist in Marjaavaan. Talking about his character, director Milap Zaveri further said, "We decided to make his villain a three-foot-tall but larger-than-life midget with a wicked sense of humour. His Vishnu is arrogant and thinks he is invincible." The filmmaker also informed that there is an analogy of Lord Vishnu's fifth avatar, Vaaman, who was also a dwarf, in the film.

Later, when asked about the similarities between Riteish character and Shah Rukh Khan's dwarf avatar in Zero, he added, "Shah Rukh played a smaller version of himself. We storyboarded the screenplay and had a midget gentleman on the set for Riteish to imbibe certain mannerisms and ensure he didn't go overboard or underplay the physical aspects of his character."

The director also shared the technical challenges that they faced while filming Riteish' scenes and said, "We shot Riteish's scenes against the green screen and without it for perspective. His eyeline has to match that of others so Riteish shot looking up, while his co-stars looked down. We couldn't use two-three camera setups for Riteish's scenes as we did for others. So, every shot had to be taken five times."

Besides Tara, Sidharth, and Riteish, Marjaavaan features Rakul Preet Singh in an important role. Stay tuned to BL for more scoops and updates.
