Malayalam actress Manju Warrier was shooting in Chatru region of Himachal Pradesh when the floods hit the state. Manju, director Sanal Sasidharan and a 30-member crew were stranded in that region without any sign of finding a way out of there. The crew were along with 200 other people which included tourists and local residents. Manju Warrier called her brother Madhu Warrier for help and briefed him about the situation. Madhu later reached out for help to Kerala Minister V Muraleedharan who in turn contacted his counterpart in Himachal. According to ANI, the unit of the film were rescued and brought to Manali on Tuesday evening, and releases later. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur is said to have personally spoken to the rescue team about it.
Muraleedharan is said to have spoken with the Chief Minister himself who alerted officials to look into. Officials in Mandi contacted the stranded crew and began the rescue operations. Speaking about Manju's call, her brother Madhu said that she called from satellite phone and it lasted less than 15 second. "She was asking for help. The food supplies there are running out, they have food for only one more day. She didn't tell me much as it was only a 15-second call asking for help," said Madhu Warrier.
The film the unit was shooting is an untitled film being directed by Sanal Sasidharan. The makers had just began the shooting and finished a schedule in Thrissur before heading to Himachal Pradesh. The unit of the film including Manju Warrier will now head back to Kochi and come back later to shoot the remaining scenes in Himachal Pradesh.
On work front, Manju Warrier will soon make her debut in Tamil cinema with Asuran which stars Dhanush in lead role. Directed by Vetrimaaran, Asuran will have Manju playing an older Dhanush's wife in the plot.
