Divyanka Tripathi admits she gets 'bored of playing Ishi Maa' in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein- read exclusive interview

TV actress Divyanka Tripathi recently stepped into the digital world with Pradeep Sarkar's directorial Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala. Meanwhile, she did continue playing Ishi Maa in Ekta Kapoor's ongoing show Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. The actress has been playing the character for around six years now. The show has seen several ups and downs during its course, however, it is still going strong. In an exclusive conversation when we asked Divyanka if she ever gets bored playing the same character for six years now, she agreed that she does get bored. "There are moments!" she said, "Because at times the story does get stagnant or it starts repeating itself. How much can you churn out in six years?"

Despite the ups and downs in the ratings and hundreds of reports speculating that the daily soap will be shut down, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has been going strong. "The plug has not been pulled because the TRP is still going up," Divyanka shared, "Ishi Maa is in me. Many households are running on the show. And every time I go on the sets, the light man, the other crew members are perplexed. They ask me if I m planning to quit the show; because ratings do fluctuate after the exit of one primary character. And I don t want to break their hope while they look at me. That motivates me to keep performing. But yes, I do get bored with playing Ishi Maa. But then you have to. I have to give my best."

During these six years several actors have gone out of the show, however, Divyanka stayed put. When asked if she has ever felt like quitting the show, she quickly replied, "No, not quitting. I m not a quitter. But I keep doing other things like a digital series, a dance reality show (she participated in Nach Baliye 8 with hubby Vivek Dahiya) or host some show (she hosted the second season of The Voice India) to keep my actor self, satisfied."
