Raju Mavani, who launched Suniel Shetty and co-starred with Salman Khan, loses battle with cancer

Filmmaker-actor Raju Mavani, who was seen in films like Wanted, Shootout At Wadala, Policegiri, Sarkar and others, passed away on Thursday, at around 7: 30 in the evening. The 62-year-old film personality was suffering from kidney ailments and was later diagnosed with cancer. He fought for three years before passing away due to this disease yesterday. The funeral of Raju Mavani will happen today even at 6 pm at the Oshiwara crematorium.

Raju Mavani launched Suniel Shetty with Balwaan, which turned out to be a huge hit at the box office. The film also featured Divya Bharti and Danny Denzongpa in pivotal roles. Post that, he bankrolled Sunny Deol, Saif Ali Khan and Raveena Tandon's musical hit Imtihaan. In Salman Khan starrer Wanted, he portrayed the character Datta Pawle and established his presence despite having less screentime.

He made his directorial debut with Surakshaa, which had the ensembled cast of Suniel Shetty, Aditya Pancholi, Saif Ali Khan, Sheeba, Divya Dutta, Monica Bedi, Kader Khan, Mukesh Rishi and Tinnu Anand. Post that, he went on to helm Anuradha, Iski Topi Uske Sarr and Ram Aur Shyam. We have our condolences to the family of Raju Mavani and pray that his soul will rest in peace.
