Alia Bhatt and Adtiya Roy Kapur's Sadak 2 gets a release date - find out

Sadak 2 featuring Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt has got its the release date. The sequel to Mahesh Bhatt's 1991 Sadak will hit the cinemas on July 10, 2020. "The roads will intersect once again. #Sadak2 in cinemas on 10th July 2020. @aliaa08 #AdityaRoyKapur @duttsanjay @PoojaB1972 @MaheshNBhatt #MukeshBhatt @FoxStarHindi," the makers made an official announcement on their Twitter handle.

A day ago, when Alia kickstarted the shoot of her father's directorial, she put up a long post on Instagram that read, "Today is Day 1 of Sadak 2. And that s my father, now also my director, holding the clap. I begin shooting in a few days and honestly, I m petrified. I feel like a tiny mouse trying to climb a beautiful, immense, emotional mountain. I hope I make it to the top and if I fall I hope I m able to get up again. It s a tough climb but from everything I ve seen and everything I ve heard, I know every single step and misstep will be worth it! Here s to movies, family, dreams and starting out on a brand NEW journey! And what a journey it s going to be!!!!"

The original film, which released nearly two decades ago, was the second highest grossing film of 1991. Sadak was a romantic thriller and it revolved around a young man who falls in love with a sex worker. The movie was inspired by a Hollywood film titled Taxi Driver (1978). After a Hindi remake, Taxi Driver was remade in Tamil as Appu with actors like Prashanth, Devyani and Prakash Raj.

Coming back to Sadak 2, it is Alia Bhatt's first collaboration with her dad Mahesh and sister Pooja. Shedding light on same, the Raazi star had told PTI, "It will never be easy as I don t know him as a director, I know him as a dad. Working with him as a director will be a different ball game altogether. I am excited. It is an exciting film. My father is very silent on most of the things. But I still don t know how he will be on the sets. Sanju pushed him this time. I did not. He is my father and he is always unpredictable. He has done the most unpredictable thing of directing a film after a long time."

Sadak 2 will take forward the story of Sanjay and Pooja with Alia and Aditya as an addition.
