Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh inches closer to Rs 250 crore – read report

Kabir Singh has emerged as the monstrous hit of 2019. People are still watching and showering the Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani-starrer with love. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial, which is a remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, continues to rule the ticket windows. In its third week, Kabir Singh raked in a solid Rs 3.32 crore and with that, it is all set to enter Rs 250 crore club by the end of the day. Till date, the collections of the film stand as follows:

The grand total of Kabir Singh is currently Rs 249.60 crore. It has emerged as the biggest hit of 2019, beating Vicky Kaushla's Uri: The Surgical Strike. The response to the movie, right from the moment the posters and the teaser dropped on the net, has been beyond fantastic. At the same time, Kabir Singh has hogged the limelight for its content being termed as misogynistic and a controversial statement by the director himself.

Balwinder Singh Janjua, who is the writer of the film, reacted on the same when we got in touch with him for an exclusive interaction. Balwinder told us, "I wonder why critics are thinking like that. Cinema is cinema. He (Shahid Kapoor) is playing a character. If you start judging Shah Rukh Khan for his role in Darr, toh galat hai na yaar. Log itni nafrat, hala gula isliye kar rahe hain because he has done the role so well. As an actor, he is so brilliant. In every frame, in the songs and in the way he reacted to things in the film."
