Mission Mangal beats Kesari and Total Dhamaal to be the fourth highest grosser of the year

Mission Mangal has achieved its mission on all levels. The film has pleased the critics and has turned out to be a total crowd-pleaser. Mission Mangal has earned Rs 149.31 crore so far and will cross the Rs 150 crore mark today. It has overtaken Kesari, Total Dhamaal, Super 30 at the box office. Mission Mangal is a fictionalised account of the Mangalyaan mission. Akshay Kumar plays the role of Rakesh Dhawan, the mission director and Vidya Balan is Tara Shinde the project manager. The core team is played by actresses Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari. All the actresses have got immense appreciation for their performance. Mission Mangal is driven by some fine performances by Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha. Filmmaker Jagan Shakti has made a solid debut. BollywoodLife in its review wrote, "Mission Mangal's prime strength lies in the crisp narrative and superlative performances. Vidya Balan is absolutely brilliant throughout the film whether she is talking of a power beyond science or when she tells her husband that as a mom she is equally clued in as she is as a scientist. Akshay Kumar delivers the good and has the best one-liners. Chandan Arora has edited the film in a fine manner. Jagan Shakti has made a good solid debut as a director whether it is in extracting the emotions or creating the buildup for the climax. The background score of the film and some whistle worthy dialogues are extra highlights."
