2010

Love Sex Aur Dhoka 

Love Sex Aur Dhoka was directed by Dibakar Banerjee and like the title suggests, the film told us stories on Love, Sex and Dhoka (Betrayal). The film was shot on different cameras including a handycam, an amateur film camera, a security camera, an underwater camera and spy cameras. Rajkummar Rao played the character of Adarsh, a supermarket manager. Adarsh was suffering from major debts so he makes a pact with a friend to make a sex tape with one of the employees to sell to the media for a large sum of money. Even though he develops feelings for the women later on, they are suppressed by his greed and he goes ahead with the decision. 

2011

Ragini MMS 

Ragini MMS was a horror film in which a couple on a visit to a deserted farm house have an encounter with a ghost. The film was inspired by the massively popular horror film Paranormal Activity. Interestingly, the film was shot in just 25 days and the makers also arranged a midnight premiere keeping the film’s theme in mind. 

Shaitan 

Shaitan was a film that revolved around a group of friends who lead a directionless life. They like having fun which includes drinking, doing drugs and driving around in a Hummer. One such day, they run over two men who were on a scooter and end up killing them instantly. They flee from there but are traced by a corrupt cop, Inspector Malwankar (Rajkummar Rao), who is willing to let go of the case but is asking for a hefty fee in return. 

2012

Gangs Of Wasseypur II

In the second instalment of Anurag Kashyap’s Gangwar series, Rakummar Rao plays the role of Shamshad Alam. Shamshad joins hands with Faizal (Nawazuddin Siddiqu) and the two together start the business of iron trade. Shamshad however ends up stabbing Faizal in the back by reporting him to the police. Eventually, Faizal does get his revenge by killing Shamshad for it.

Chittagong 

Chittagong was a war drama directed by Anurag Kashyap based on a little known saga during the 1930’s when India was under the power of the British. A rebellion consisting of schoolboys and young women was launched led by a schoolteacher named Masterda Surya Sen (Manoj Bajpayee). 

Talaash 

Rajkummar Rao was seen alongside Aamir Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor Khan psychological horror thriller Talaash. He played the role of a sub inspector who along with Senior Police Inspector Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan), investigates the mysterious accident of well-known actor Armaan Kapoor (Vivan Bhatena). 

2013

Kai Po Che 

Kai Po Che was a story of three best friends - Ishaan Bhatt (Sushant Singh Rajput), Omkar Shastri (Amit Sadh) and Govind Patel (Rajkummar Rao). The three had a dream of opening a cricket coaching centre that will discover the next big talent in India. However,  the Gujarat riot has a massive toll on their friendship and also results in Ishaan loosing his life. 

Boys Toh Boys Hain

Boys Toh Boys Hain is a film that revolved around four men played by Rajkummar Rao, Anshuman Jha, Dhruv Ganesh and Samrat Arya. The entire movie is about these men searching for their love. This journey is shown in a comic and fun way. 

Shahid 

Shahid is regarded as one of Rajkummar Rao’s best work till date. The film was based on the life of lawyer and human rights activist Shahid Azmi, who was assassinated in 2010. Shahid used fight for people who were wrongly accused for terrorism and went to great heights in order to ensure justice was served.  

2014

Queen 

Queen was a film that no doubt belonged to Kangana Ranaut but Rakummar Rao to made a big impact on the film despite the short screen time. He played Kangana’s fiancé in the film who initially dumps her but changes his mind later on. However, this time Kangana refuses to accept him after she re discovers herself during a trip to Europe.

Citylights told a tragic story of Deepak Singh (Rajkummar Rao), a farmer from Rajasthani village who travels with his family to the city in hope of a better life but discovers that it has it’s own set of challenges. 

2015

Dolly Ki Doli

In this movie, we see a con artist named Dolly, who uses her beauty to mesmerise men and runs away with their money on the night of the wedding. Rajkummar Rao played a character of one such victim in the film. 

Hamari Adhuri Kahani 

Hamari Adhuri Kahani was a story about a single mother named Vasudha (Vidya Balan), who finds a friend and companion in Aarav (Emraan Hashmi). Things seem to going just fine until Vasudha’s past, her husband Hari (Rajkummar Rao), comes back to haunt her. 

2016

Aligarh

Set in the city of Aligarh, the film tell us the story of Professor Siras (Manoj Bajpayee), a gay linguistic professor who must deal with the aftermath of a sting operation that exposes his sexual orientation in front of the nation. A journalist Deepu Sebastian (Rajkummar Rao), feels sympathetic for his condition and takes up his case in court. However, until gives the permission to revoke his teaching license, he’s found dead at his home. 

Trapped

Trapped is a film on the lines of Cast Away and 127 hours.  But, what makes this film stand out from them is the fact that he’s isolated in the hush hush city of Mumbai. Shaurya (Rajkummar Rao) gets trapped in an apartment without electricity, food and water. He was brilliant and effortless in the film and credit must be given for picking such a risky project. 

2017

Behen Hogi Teri 

Rajkummar Rao starred opposite Shruti Haasan in this romantic comedy. He played the character of Gattu who is in love with Binny (Shruti Haasan). Gattu faces the challenge of conniving the entire village that every boy and girl from the same village aren’t brother and sisters for to get his love. 

Bareilly Ki Barfi 

Bareilly Ki Barfi is a lighthearted romantic comedy set in the small town of Bareilly. Bitti (Kriti Sanon) happens to read a book and falls in love with the author for his writing. The book was written by Chirag Dubey (Ayushmann Khurrana), about his ex-girlfriend who broke his heart. To avoid the embarrassment he uses the name of his friend Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkummar Rao) as the author. When he finds out that Bitti is looking for the author he goes to his friend Prtiam for help and asks him to act in a manner that she feels that he’s not the man she thought he was hoping that she’ll loose her affection for the author and he can express his feelings. The film was an our and out laugh riot and Rajkummar absolutely nailed his role.  

Newton 

In the film Newton, Rajkummar Rao played the role of a government employee who is assigned to conduct elections in a politically fragile environment. Newton (Rajkummar Rao) puts a lot at stake to conduct a fair election despite being under pressure of security forces and a threat of a guerrilla attack. 

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana 

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana was film that dealt with dowry, women emancipation, arrange marriages and patriarchy. In the film, Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda’s character are part of a proposed arranged marriage who eventually fall in love. However, they soon realise that there are lot more things needed to make the marriage work than just being in love. 

2018

Omerta 

Omerta told the story of infamous British-born terrorist Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who was the man behind the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002. Rajkummar Rao did an excellent job playing the titular character in this gripping film. 

Fanney Khan

In Fanney Khan, we saw Prashant Kumar (Anil Kapoor), who wanted his daughter to fulfil his failed dream of making it as a big singer. He kidnaps a popular singer Baby Singh (Aishwarya Rai) and hopes that he can use the ransom to make his dream come true. Rajkummar Rao’s character Adir helps Prashant with the kidnapping. 

Stree

Stree was a horror comedy based on the phenomenon of Nale Ba in which it was rumoured that an evil spirit named Stree would abduct men at night. Rajkummar Rao’s character Vicky ends up falling a woman played by Shraddha Kapoor, who people believe is Stree herself. The film gives you the jerks that you expect from a horror but also keeps the humour as a constant. 

Love Sonia 

Inspired by real events, Love Sonia tells us a riveting tale of a girl’s attempt to rescue her sister from the clutches of human trafficking. Along with Rajkummar Rao, the film featured a talented cast including the likes of Mrunal Thakur, Riya Sisodiya, Freida Pinto, Demi Moore, Manoj Bajpayee, Richa Chadda, Anupam Kher, Adil Hussain and Sai Tamhankar. 

5 Weddings 

Nargis Fakhri plays an American journalist named Shania Dhaliwal. Shania is assigned a job to travel to India and cover Bollywood weddings. During her time her, she discovers a lot about Indian culture and also ends up falling in love a local police inspector Harbhajan Singh (Rajkummar Rao).

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga

Sweety Chaudhary (Sonam Kapoor) is a young Punjabi woman living in an orthodox family. While the family wants her to get married they’re unaware of the fact that she’s a lesbian and is already in love with another woman. However, with the help of playwright Sahil Mirza (Rajkummar Rao), Sweety’s family realises that there’s nothing wrong with Sweety and her wish to have a relationship with someone of the same sex.

Judgementall Hai Kya 

Judgementall Hai Kya was a film that celebrated individually and encouraged other to love yourself as you are. The film revolves around a murder mystery and all the very climax you are kept in the dark regarding who’s behind the crime. The film was a good mixture of comedy, drama and a few twists and turns that kept the audience engaged.
