It was a packed Friday at the theatres. We had three films clashing on a single day. The Zoya Factor, Prassthanam and Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas took on one another. Going by the initial reports, Prassthanam has made Rs 3.07 crores, the majority of which has come from single screen theatres in the country. We know that Sanjay Dutt aka Baba has a loyal fan following till date. According to trade expert Ramesh Bala, it has made Rs 3.07 crore so far. Good word of mouth has worked in favour of the film. Prassthanam is the remake of a Telugu film of the same name.

People have praised Ali Fazal and Satyajeet Dubey's performance in Prassthanam as well. In an interview, Dubey said, "Playing Vivaan Baldev Singh was the most difficult and exciting roles I have done till now. What attracted me to the character was his journey and the unpredictability. He was someone who had a sense of false entitlement of his identity. I couldn't sleep at night and waited until sunrise to drift off to sleep. Even when I slept I would have nightmares where I am shooting people or people were shooting me."
BollywoodLife's reviewer Susri Sahu wrote, "Sanjay Dutt is menacing as a politician but simultaneously has a vulnerability that translates well on screen. His dialogues with sons and aides form the most entertaining bits of the film. Ali Fazal fronts the strongest foot acting wise and it'll remind you of his ways in Mirzapur. Even Jackie Shroff's silent act as a henchman speaks volume of his calibre. The biggest surprise is newcomer Satyajeet Dubey who holds his own in front of performers like Dutt and Fazal, especially in the second half which is pacier and more convincing."
