Actor Rajeev Khandelwal who is best known for playing the national crush back in 2002, Sujal on the TV screens has returned to the genre with Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala. The 43-year-old is seen as Vikram, a brooding Michelin Star chef in the digital series which is streamed recently on OTT platforms. Completely hassled by the back to back interactions for his last movie Pranaam and the digital show, Rajeev has decided to take a sabbatical, go on a vacation and be out of the limelight. "I'll make sure to be not seen for the next 6 months," Khandelwal said in jest while talking to us during one of the promotional events.
"My fans were constantly asking me to do a romantic TV show. I was quite clear that I'm not doing a daily soap for sure. This (Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala) was completely my thing. I thought I need to give my fans one romantic show before I become too old to do one," Rajeev talks about picking the romantic drama which revolves around cooking. The narrative of the series has two timelines. For those who haven't seen yet, the first is the intense Michelin star Chef the other is a lighter side which Rajeev jokingly calls, 'Chamandu purush'. While you might think that it would have been quite a task for Rajeev, who comes across as this serious guy, to get the nerve of the character, it wasn't really the case. "It came so easy," Rajeev shared on playing the younger version of Vikram, a slightly funny guy. "I knew it... I have got a great comic timing since I used to be on stage and have been an emcee," Rajeev revealed that he used to be the go-to guy for his friends, to write funny scripts for haldi, sangeet and such ceremonies.
Coldd Lassi Aur Chicken Masala primarily revolves around an estranged couple, played by Khandelwal and Divyanka Tripathi crossing their paths after a certain time. When asked how would Rajeev react to a situation when he has to work with his ex, he politely said, "I'm a very positive guy. I don't harbor ill feelings for anyone. So if I bump into my ex and my presence will bother her life I would not come across her. Sometimes you do fall out of life, but that doesn't make you my enemy."
Giving an example Rajeev further explained, "If tomorrow my wife comes and tells me Rajeev I don't want to live with you anymore and I find out that she means it, I'll respect her and be like it's your life. I'll do anything to make her life beautiful."
However, crossing paths and working together are quite two different things. Working with his ex is a dilemma for Rajeev. "Don't know how I will deal with it with. Now that'll be a dilemma." Rajeev also added that marriage will make sure that the old flames won't be reignited and concluded saying, "I hope nobody ends up in such a situation."
