Trend of the Week: Bows

What a stylish week it has been. With the Cannes Film Festival on in full swing, we’ve seen some stunning trends make it to the red carpet. With the Indian fashion scene expanding to international shores, elaborate trends are making their way into the Indian closets. While summer  may restrict you with the kind of jazzing up you can do to your outfit, fashionistas always find a way to add  oomph to a regular wardrobe.

You can stick to pastels and light materials. But adding a little X-factor will  make your outfit stand out in a sea of summery attires. Hogging the limelight this week, we saw a rather unique trend make a repeated appearance in the style files. No, it’s not a pair of pants or a type of shirt; it’s a smart add-on to your outfit. Bows became a significant part of many stunning looks in the past week. From the Cannes red carpet to movie promotions, we pick out the top looks that flaunted this trend perfectly.

Deepika Padukone 
We spotted this trend on the diva in three different forms in her Cannes outings

-          Structural : An extravagant black bow was structured into her off-white gown on her first day at the Cannes Film Festival. It not only added the pizzazz to her outfit, but made the simple gown look uber trendy.

-          Bowtie: For her second grand red carpet, Deepika opted for a tulle lime green gown with a peachy bowtie on its Victorian collar. It made the outfit quite quirky and broke the monotony of the outfit.

-          Neckline: Another of her Cannes’ outfit had a huge bow tied around her neck line, holding her loose silhouette dress together. Chic, zany yet simple, this look worked out for DeePee.

Rakul Preet Singh 
Rakul  wore a beige trenchdress and to clinch it around the waist she opted for a contestation belt tied in a bow. This is a fun way to add a little colour and structure to a simple outfit.

Diana Penty 
Diana’s Cannes outfits have been classic but she managed to make a simple black jumpsuit look so raid worthy. A massive millennial pink bow added to one shoulder and flowing down the length of the outfit was a fine way to make a simple look turn stunning for the Riviera.
