Exclusive! Adulting 2 stars Yashaswini Dayama and Aisha Ahmed have THESE advices for dealing with difficult bosses

The second season of Adulting is here. While the first season saw Nikhat and Ray being broke and finding themselves amidst career conundrums, in Adulting 2, Aisha Ahmed aka Nikhat and Yashaswini Dayama aka Ray will be navigating through a lot of adult problems which include sexual harassment too. From dealing with difficult bosses and breaking the ice with them, to being an adult with parents and exploring non-committal relationships, Nikhat and Ray will sail through it all.

To know more about Adulting 2 and what Aisha and Yashaswini think about these issues in real life, BollywoodLife exclusively interacted with the two and here's what they had to say...

#Will Adulting 2 bring a change or start a conversation among the masses, considering the topics that this season sheds light on?

Aisha: It will, definitely. The whole team took special effort to talk about issues that affect young women, especially in our country. Through this season, the show covers topics that are not necessarily easy to talk about and hopefully will help youngsters come out and deal with these issues without feeling alienated.

Yashaswini: We hope so! With last season we discovered what a wide range of people were interested in our stories and loved the characters. So even, if a fraction of our audience feels sensitised, I think its a victory. Because it's all a butterfly effect from there on, for the better or worse.

#What do you guys think of the new-age relationships through dating apps?

Aisha: Honestly, I believe that individuals have the right to live the way they choose and how they go about their dating life. Whether it's through meeting over a dating app, or meeting organically it's up to that person.

Yashaswini: I am personally terrified of new people but the people in my life who do use these platforms, they meet such interesting people. And I think one of the major pros is realising how alike our thinking can be because we're all looking for the same things and going through the same troubles. So it's great that we can be brought together, but eventually, I think relationships of any kind need that real-world touch.

#What's the mantra to stay positive despite all the obstacles that come your way in life?

Aisha: I really try to take one day at a time and honestly not make anything the end of the world for me. Whatever it is, I know it will pass Also, talking to my friends and just ranting out how I feel definitely makes me feel lighter.

Yashaswini: I stress a lot about everything. So my brother taught me this thing, where I'm supposed to think "What would calm Yashaswini?" and do that even though I'm not even remotely calm. It doesn't work all the time. Most of the times I don't even remember to do it. But I think it's good advice!

#What's the advice you guys would give to employees who have a hard time dealing with their bosses?

Aisha: I personally don't have any office working experience hence I suggest you tune into the office episode and watch Ray (her character) deal with her boss.

Yashaswini: I think the young ones always get accused of being impatient and being "young" like that's a bad thing. So even though our souls may cringe and want to rebel, I'd rather suck it up for the moment and find a way to get my point across in the most compromise way possible.

#And the advice to such bosses?

Aisha: Probably, judge people according to their merit and not their age.

Yashaswini: To not accuse the young ones of being impatient and young. We can't help either as we live in the age of instant gratification, so be patient with us too!

#Do you both feel the #MeToo movement failed to serve the purpose?

Aisha: Definitely not. I believe it's made both men and women feel like they can be heard. And to live in a society that gives people a voice without fear is the only way forward.

Yashaswini: Not at all! We see the impact it's had every single day! It wasn't meant to just incriminate, it's created courage and the awareness in so many of us girls that we can stand up to bullshit and it is a big deal. That notion of brushing under the carpet is depleting little by little. The entire mindset has evolved in so many parts of the world, it's not an issue completely at the back of our society anymore, it's out in the open and every day more and more women are finding the strength to do what they think is right because of these few women who chose to speak up.
