Ayushmann Khurrana on playing Puja in Dream Girl: I think I’d been preparing for this film for years

Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up for yet another quirky comedy of error film, Dream Girl. And ever since the makers dropped the teaser of the film, many were blown away by the story. And then again Ayushmann is known to take up film which others don't do. The film releases on 13th September which is just a week away. The actor cannot wait to watch the reaction of the audience.

Ayushmann plays Lokesh whose alter ego is a female named Puja. This Puja has many admirers in and around the city. Ayushmann revealed that the makers had been working on such a concept and wanted a female actress to dub for Ayushmann's Puja. "Since I was 80 per cent there, I thought of giving it a try, then, if things didn't work out, we could try getting an actress or a good voiceover artist on board too. I personally love Priyanka Chopra's voice" Ayushmann told Mumbai Mirror.

For those not in the know, Ayushmann Khurrana is a man of many talents. During his RJ days, Ayushmann often pranked many callers by talking in a female voice. After much practise, Ayushmann finally got the hold of it. "Of course, I had to give 30-40 takes, focussing on every single line. It was hard work, but we finally got it right," beaming, he told the portal. He then went on to reveal that at the age of 15, he would ring at his first girlfriend's house, and if her parents picked up the phone, he would talk in a girl's voice and pretend to be one of her female friends. "I think I'd been preparing for this film for years," he added.

Ayushmann revealed that he was hugely inspired by Aamir Khan and Kamal Hassan. "Even Kamal Haasan sir in Chachi 420 looked and sounded like a lady with both Om Puri saab and Amrish Puri saab's characters in love with his Lakhsmi Godbole. They both inspired me but Dream Girl revolves around the boy who works in a call centre, so I had to wear a saree or a lehenga in only around five scenes," Ayushmann said.
