Taapsee Pannu as Kritika Agarwal, Sonakshi Sinha as Eka Gandhi, Sharman Joshi as Parmeshwar Naidu, Kirti Kulhari as Neha Siddiqui, Nithya Menen as Varsha Gowda and H. R. Dattatrey as Ananth Iyer. They all come together to launch India s first satellite to Mars and the accomplishing a historic mission for the country.

The film is inspired by a true story but the makers have taken creative liberties. A source close to the film earlier said, The premise is based on true events, but the team has taken some creative liberties for cinematic purposes. The mission was successful because of the teamwork, and every character has their moment of glory in the screenplay. It is the story of an underdog team standing tall against all odds.
Akshay's Cape of Good Films has joined hands with Fox Star Studios for three films and Mission Mangal will be their first collaboration. The film is jointly-partnered by Pad Man helmer R Balki and is directed by Jagan Shakti.
